At present, corn in northeast China enters into the key growth period. A
number of good days recently is very helpful for remedying the damage
to corn growth caused by the previous rainy days. Temperature in Hebei
and Henan Provinces is suitable for corn growth and the yield per unit
and total yield in these two provinces are estimated to level those of
last year.
At present, corn in China has entered into filling and milk-ripe
stages; climate in most producing areas is suitable for corn growth.
From the growth observations and analyses issued by some market
organizations, although corn in some areas in northeast China suffered
from flood, yet the corn growth condition in whole northeast basically
equals that of common years and the growth conditions in some areas is
better than that of last year; the total yield expectation is much
optimistic. If no adverse weathers like early frost or snowfall happen,
corn yields in Jilin and Heilongjiang Provinces are estimated to
increase to a certain degree; corn yields in Liaoning and Inner Mongolia
are estimated to level with that of last year or reduce slightly. Right
now, drought hits some areas in Henan and Shandong Provinces; however,
corn conditions in summer seeding areas of Shaanxi and Hebei Provinces
are good and farmers in some of these areas are strengthening farm
management under the guidance of agricultural departments.
