Algerian wheat import in first 7 months of 2013 increased to 1.39
billion dollars, compared with 1.16 billion dollars of the same period

national customs data and analysis center.
In term of volume, the total volume of hard wheat and soft wheat of the
first 7 months of this year was 3.80 million tonnes, compared with 3.66
million tonnes of the same period of lst year.
Algeria imported a total volume of 870,000 tonnes hard wheat, with
value 354,432 dollars and a total volume of 2.92 million tonnes soft
wheat, with value 1 billion dollars.
The annual demand of grain in Algeria is about 8 million tonnes, which
makes the country one of main wheat importers. The country’s wheat
suppliers are mainly France, Canada and America.
